Manticore Repaint

I recently decided to strip down an old citadel Manticore figure and repaint it.

After looking at the figure I decide that the base colour was fine.

To improve the paint job I washed the figure with citadel devlin wash, then highlighted with Vallejo Tan Yellow and added black to the tail and main.

The original base was bland so I created a new one using pieces of flint picked up while walking the dog.

I think that it is a considerable improvement over the original, which hardly looks like the same figure,

2019 Final Score and 2020 Targets

A review of my plan for 2020 and a update on the 2019 plan Painting wise a very tough year with the study going upstairs, coming down, and now being used as the TV room:- A very low number considering 2019's 170+ 2019 Darkest Africa 11 WW2 British 12 WW2 Japanese 1 WW2 Germans 1 Fantasy 11 Saxons 2 Terrain 13 51 I also started work on the third batch of Jungle terrain, rebased my Fantasy adventurers so all bases are consistent, block painted my Colonial Belgiums, and built the WW2 Japanese army and a squad of Germans. I did not manage to avoid any new projects. Adding the Japanese was somewhat a surprise but is jungle based so a lot of terrain is ready. 2020  Targets 1) Darkest Africa Belgium's for MWWBK and DITDK, mostly based coated. 2) Schedule some painting for my Fantasy stuff. Warhammer Fantasy Battle

So having now painted a fair number of fantasy figures there is a need to start to work out how they could be used. Mordheim initially springs to mind with a solid background and some nice terrain already build. My original plan was to use the figures as part of a D&D game but this still looks a long way off. With my thoughts returning to old school gaming I have been toying with gladiatorial battles perhaps using the fantasy trip or one of the early old school games. This has now come around to possibly using 3 rd (or 2 nd ) edition warhammer fantasy battle.  These early rule sets certainly cover most of the creatures that I was thinking of using and of course I already own the rules. For 3 rd edition I have the rulebook, siege, army lists and slaves to darkness. So plenty to be getting on with. I also have the box and booklet for Terror of the Lichemaster but the cardboard figures and most of the buildings are long gone. However I do really like the later editions of WHF...
